Habitat Evaluation
One of the first steps in managing a property is to determine what types of
habitats already exist. Our Biologist will meet you at your property and begin by listening. A tour of the property will be conducted to inspect the quality and quantity of existing habitat types. Having low quality habitat to start with does not mean that it can’t be improved. Locust and hedge tree stands can be transformed into native grassland, food plots, beneficial tree groves, or pasture (if that is the goal).
Lakes can be made fishable again. Property can be made more accessible.
It all starts with an evaluation.
During the tour, possible management strategies will be discussed.
Alternative objectives may be offered depending upon the findings. Our biologist will point out species of trees, shrubs, and grasses that are beneficial. He will also look for signs of wildlife and talk to you about what kinds of animals are currently on your property. Single, or multiple solutions will be discussed to either encourage or discourage certain species.
During the wrap-up session back at the truck, our biologist will provide an overview of his findings and discuss management strategies. Goals may be re-evaluated if necessary. Habitat modifications will be discussed within relationship to monetary considerations. Once this is concluded, the real work can begin. Whether you hire us to implement a plan, someone else, or do it yourself, it doesn’t matter. Our goal is to help you improve your property, letting you make the ultimate decisions.
Take advantage of the habitat evaluation to find out the potential that your piece of land holds. Many customers that are purchasing or have just purchased land can sometimes be overwhelmed with a property that hasn’t been taken care of for years. Don’t let a lack of previous land conservation and management deter you from seeing the real land behind the mask.
